Margaret

My name is Margaret and I am the over 60's visitor for the Friendship club. I help with autistic children who meet at the citadel on a Monday and Friday. I am also a songster.

When I retired, I didn't want to sit back and do nothing, so I came to do the voluntary work with the autistic children. I find it very rewarding when the children start to talk, or when they hold your hand.

I couldn't live without my faith. I've lost two children. I coudn't have managed each day after that without my faith. I pray each day for strength to help me.

The Sunday services help me a lot. Sometimes the sermon, or something the major says, or words from a song will boost you up for the rest of the week. I sing in the Songsters, and words such as these help me:

'Count your blessings, name them one by one.

Count your blessings, see what God has done.'
