Salvationists only stand up for the first song. They remain seated for the other hymns.
Worship is a big part of the Salvation Army. The band always plays while the Salvationists sing.

The Salvationists stand only for the first hymn or song, but, unlike other churches, sit for the other hymns. Often, the words to the hymns are read out before it is sung, or between the verses. This is so that the band, and those who find it difficult to read, can hear and think about the words before they are sung.
