The collection plates are being passed around as people worship.

Worship is a special way of saying thank you to God. Worship could be a prayer, or singing songs, which are often called hymns in a church.

The words to songs are either printed in hymn books, or can be found on the newsletter. The organ and choir are used to help the singing.

The offering is also part of the worship. Bags are passed around the congregation (people in the church), who will put money in. The money is then used to keep the church running, and to give to people who need it, for example a local charity, or missionaries.
